In the wake of the release of Episode Prompto in late June, Final Fantasy XV updates just keep coming. The end of July brings news of the long awaited Comrades mode as well as a brand new game update.

Comrades mode is the new name for the multiplayer expansion for Final Fantasy XV, something that has been in the works at Square Enix for quite some time now. A closed online test will be taking place from August 3 to August 8, though the release date for the full expansion is still TBD according to the official Final Fantasy XV website. The test is available for Xbox Gold and PlayStation Plus members and requires either a Season Pass or purchase of the Final Fantasy XV Comrades expansion. The test will function like an early access preview, with limited weapons and locations available, as well as the ability to only play as avatars, rather than as Noctis and co. They will, however, be available as part of the complete expansion when it is released, and functions such as Sigils, Meteorshards, and Meals will also have expanded functionality though details are still forthcoming.

The latest update for XV released July 31 and added several features to the game. New Magitek exosuits are available that grant 30 minutes of invincibility per day, and can continue to be worn after the invincibility wears off, to help get through tougher areas. The Final Fantasy XV Magitek exosuits had been announced earlier but were delayed due to legal issues leading to their redesign to look more different from Sabin's Power Rangers.

The new quest “O Partner, My Partner” has been added after the player completes Chapter 8, and a new Cross Chain system, originally seen in Episode Duscae, is available once players acquire the two Royal Arms. The fan-favorite Moogle Chocobo Carnival has also returned temporarily and will be open until late September.

In other Final Fantasy XV news, the Regalia has put in an appearance in Forza Horizon 3 and is available to drive around in now.

Are you excited to revisit the Moogle Chocobo Carnival or are you more eager to sign up for Final Fantasy XV Comrades expansion to play with friends? Let us know in the comments below!
