With Final Fantasy XV going gold, Square Enix has released some more information on their post-launch plans. This includes information on the title’s season pass, expansion, and a brand new CG trailer called Omen that was released to celebrate the fact that the game has gone gold after around a decade of development.
The $24.99 season pass will feature “three original episodes” that will take place during the main campaign of Final Fantasy XV. These side episodes focus on Noctis’ comrades, which will allow the player to view new areas, with new monsters and weapons. The first episode is called Gladiolus, with Ignis and Prompto the names of the second and third episodes.
Additionally, the season pass will have an expansion called Final Fantasy XV: Comrades, that will introduce a co-op mode that up to four players can participate in, with the players being able to ‘full control’ of Noctis, Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis in ‘intense battles’.
The post-launch content of Final Fantasy XV is being led by Haruyoshi Sawatari under the oversight of Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata. Sawtari shared some of his thoughts about the downloadable content that will be available after launch:
“Last year I travelled around the world and attended many game events. I felt an amazing passion and sense of expectation towards Final Fantasy XV from series fans everywhere. From seeing that I really wanted to make it so that the fans could enjoy the game for longer and evolve and expand it even further. I will take these feelings and give them form, to deliver an amazing experience.”
While Comrades will be able to be purchased separately, it is also available with Final Fantasy XV’s season pass, which will be released for $24.99.
Final Fantasy XV will launch on November 29 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
