Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn continues its annual holiday tradition with this year's Starlight Celebration. The holiday-themed event will run from December 17th until the end of the year.

Like previous years' Starlight Celebrations, Amh Garanjy will appear in the game and task adventurers with a holiday-themed quest. This year she is in desperate need of adventurers to help organize the Ishgardian choir. The quest can be found in Old Gridania and is open to adventurers level 15 and up---apparently 15 is when you unlock musical talent. Players that participate in this year's festivities can earn the Choir Costume, the Starlight, Starbright Orchestrion Roll, and some holiday furniture to add to their homes. You can get a glimpse of these items over on the Lodestone. Players can also purchase some of the previous years' items---like the delightful Starlight Bear Horn---in the Mog Station.

In addition to the in-game festivities, Square Enix is also hosting a Starlight Scenario Comic Contest. Players can use screenshots of the game to create a comic book-style image depicting how they and their companions celebrate the Starlight Celebration. Players can then submit their entry via the Final Fantasy XIV official forums for judging between December 17th and January 4th. Fifty winners will be selected to earn a special in-game item.

This year's Starlight Celebration marks the festival's eighth appearance in the game. The holiday-themed festival goes back even prior to the launch of A Realm Reborn and is one of several in-game events that coincide with real-world holidays.

Square Enix and players alike have good reason to celebrate this year. After its disastrous initial launch as Final Fantasy XIVFinal Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn managed to reach 14 million players across the globe this year and recently announced its third expansion, Shadowbringers, for Summer 2019.
