Back at Sony's E3 press conference in 2015, Final Fantasy VII Remake was first announced, and the announcement was received with a lot of excitement and happiness from fans of the classic JRPG from 1997. Later in 2015 we also learned that the game would be released as a multi-part series rather than a single installment. In 2017, the TechRaptor founder himself wrote a feature on the 20th anniversary of the classic JRPG. We can also say that most of our staff are eagerly waiting for the release of the remake. Yesterday we reported that Sony closed the latest State of Play broadcast with an update and a new trailer for the remake, which you can see below.
Today, according to the official Japanese press release (through a Siliconera report), we received confirmation that the remake will still have a multi-part release., despite the significant shifts in staff since the project was announced almost four years ago. The Japanese press release confirms that the "rebirth" of Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation 4 will consist of separate parts, rather than a single standalone release like the original PlayStation release.
At the end of the official press release, Square Enix noted that it will be a multipart production when it is “reborn” on the PlayStation 4. It reconfirms that the Final Fantasy VII Remake will consist of separate parts, rather than be released at once as it was back on the PlayStation. It also says that more information will again arrive in June 2019, presumably at Square Enix's E3 press conference..
You can still play the original Final Fantasy VII on PlayStation, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PC, and also on Android and iOS devices. The remake was announced as a PlayStation 4 exclusive and no new information has changed that.
