Another MMORPG has been hit with DDoS attacks, with Final Fantasy 14 players experiencing both login and server issues.

The popular MMORPG has been experiencing login issues for the past "few days", as Square Enix states both their North American and European servers are being hit repeatedly by DDoS attacks.

For those among you who are not sure what a DDoS (Denial of Service) attack actually is, here is a quick explanation that Square Enix helpfully provided for its users.

What is DDoS Attack? An attack attempting to increase the server load to an extensive level by flooding the network of the targeted servers using a massive number of computers.

However with the attack we are currently experiencing, only a massive number of access attempts are being made to the server where both character data and personal information of our customers are not in danger of being exposed.

Square Enix promises its players that they are taking "every possible measure" to combat the DDoS attacks, along with a caution that the DDoS attacks are varying. Square Enix further states that the attack is "... continuing to take place by changing their methods at every moment. We will continue to monitor and work on recovery from every angle."

Hopefully this would mean that the situation doesn't last for too long as Square Enix gets to grips with the situation and deals with it accordingly. For now, the best thing that players can do is to be as patient as possible.

Oh well. At least players may get some free time if their disappointed voices are heard loud and clear, as Blizzard Entertainment showed when they gave players five days of game time.
