With Ubisoft Montreal's stone age take on the Far Cry formula just over a month away, the French developer has now released more details on what kind of rig you'll need in order to run Far Cry Primal. So let's take a look at the barrier to entry of hunting sabretooth tigers, shall we?

The minimum specs are actually pretty reasonable:

  • Supported OS
    Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
  • Processor
Intel Core i3-550 | AMD Phenom II X4 955 or equivalent
  • RAM
    4GB
  • Video Card
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (1GB VRAM) | AMD Radeon HD 5770 (1GB VRAM) or equivalent
  • Hard Disk Space
    20 GB

The recommended specs are a little less conservative, but far from out of reach for most players:

  • Supported OS
    Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
  • Processor
Intel Core i7-2600K | AMD FX-8350 or equivalent
  • RAM
    8GB
  • Video Card
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 | AMD Radeon R9 280X or equivalent
  • Hard Disk Space
    20 GB

The page also lists a few graphics cards that are officially supported at launch, with more probably being added to the list as new drivers come out, so you're in luck if you own an AMD Radeon HD5770 or better, 7000, 200/ 300 or any other card from the Fury X series.

NVIDIA cards supported at launch are the Geforce GTX460 or better, the GTX500/600/700/900 or any card from the high-end TITAN series.

Far Cry Primal was announced last year and puts you in the shoes of Stone Age hunter Takkar as you strive to conquer the mysterious land of Oros. The game will have a heavier focus on hunting and crafting than the previous installments in the series, and gives you the ability to tame a wide variety of long-extinct beasts in your battle against the tribes responsible for killing your hunting party.

Far Cry Primal is set to release on the 28th of February on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
