Seventeen years after the explosive conclusion to Far Cry 5 players can revisit Hope County, Montana with Far Cry New Dawn that was announced at the Game Awards last year as a Far Cry 5 sequel. This game will contain a full plot line and a customizable character and will follow the pattern of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Far Cry Primal being smaller experiences than the mainline titles.

A story trailer was revealed by Ubisoft giving context to the new games antagonist as well as help that you will receive from a most unexpected place, the New Eden cult and it's leader Joseph Seed. The fate of Seed was unknown after the climax in the previous game so expect to have more of the blanks filled in. It will be your weapons for hire and the New Eden cult against the Twins.
Twinfinite also found out more about the game at a preview event where they spoke with Jean-Sebastien Decant, Far Cry New Dawn's Creative Director. It was explained that the game will have no post-launch DLC and "What is in the box is what players are going to get." He continued on to say that what will keep players in the world after the credits have rolled are the expeditions that allow players to get out of Montana and visit other places in America such as San Francisco and the Louisiana Bayou. While these locations are much smaller in scale to Hope County players will get a variety of objectives that they can complete in the area. There will be seven of these expeditions, each with three separate levels of difficulty.
Additionally, Ubisoft is ditching the Arcade mode as part of their focus on the narrative experience in this Far Cry 5 sequel. That isn't to say that they are dropping multiplayer, just that the type of custom map creation and pvp aren't going to be there, while a greater focus on co-op and single player will be present. They are also adding more light RPG elements to this iteration of the Far Cry franchise, which would resonate with the focus on the narrative experience and follow what Ubisoft has done with Assassin's Creed.
Far Cry New Dawn will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on the 15th of February for $39.99 USD.
