If you've ever played fighting games with your friends and despaired at how much better they are than you, Fantasy Strike could be the game for you. It's a fighting game designed with players of all skill levels in mind and it's coming to PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 25th.

Fantasy Strike's lead designer is Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix head honcho David Sirlin. He designed the game to attract players who "struggle to pull off complex inputs and memorize move lists". This is a fighting game that shifts the emphasis from button combos to strategy and timing. There are still plenty of advanced maneuvers to learn, but it's more about thinking than mindlessly button-mashing. Check out the trailer for Fantasy Strike below:

Fantasy Strike has a couple of innovations up its sleeve to help it stand out from the crowd. First is the Yomi Counter. If an opponent tries to throw you, the Yomi Counter will stop them in their tracks. To perform it, you'll have to let go of your controls entirely. There's also a visual display of frame advantage which shows players when they'll recover from each hit and how long it'll take. Sirlin is hoping these tools will make it easier for players to think through their bouts rather than relying on twitch reflexes to win.

Sirlin's fighting game will contain a roster of 10 characters. Each character comes complete with an in-depth tutorial video narrated by the designer himself. The game will ship with an Arcade Mode, a Boss Rush Mode, four Survival Modes, and Ranked online multiplayer (as well as local multiplayer, of course). There's also a Daily Challenge mode for those who want to check in with Fantasy Strike daily to improve their skills. Sirlin says the game uses "best-in-class GGPO networking technology" to ensure a fast, responsive, and steady online experience.

Fantasy Strike launches for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 25th. It'll cost you $29.99.
