The Fallout 76 beta is coming this October.

A post on the official Bethesda forums by a community administrator has confirmed when the beta will take place, reminding players that the beta (spelled B.E.T.A) is only available for players who pre-ordered the game from participating retailers. The post points to the F.A.Q on the beta, which details the key information needed for players.

The post also noted that Bethesda plans on revealing more information on Fallout 76 at a QuakeCon panel this year in Dallas, Texas. Those who are participating in the panel will be able to ask questions about the game (or can send questions via social media) and the panel will be recorded both for Twitch and Mixer.

Fallout 76 is the next game in the Fallout series, and will be an online survival-RPG set in post-apocalyptic West Virginia. It will be Bethesda's first online multiplayer Fallout game, where players can play individually or up to teams of three on dedicated servers. Players will be able to build settlements anywhere they wish on the map, fight and survive against various mutated creatures, interact with NPCs, and take over nuclear silos and bomb the map to create a highly irradiated area.

Fallout 76 is slated for a November 14th, 2018 release for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Quick Take

The confirmation of when the beta does launch is good to know, and as someone who has been confirmed to be a part of that beta at this point, I am actually excited to see what Fallout 76 has to offer. The online survival-RPG aspects seems like a natural fit to the Fallout universe, although the online Player vs Player is still going to be a major sticking point. Even with the threat of griefing, Bethesda is putting some steps in measure to at least preserve progress.

What are your thoughts on Fallout 76 though? Looking forward to the beta? Leave your comments below.
