The launch of mod support for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Special Edition have had some heavy restriction in place since the feature was patched into the games. From the get-go, players had to deal with a capped file size on both consoles, with the PlayStation 4 restrictions being a bit more, well, restrictive than the Xbox One version. It now seems like there are some additional restrictions you'll have to keep in mind if you want to play Bethesda's games with some mods on consoles.

With the latest patches released to Fallout 4 and Skyrim on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, a cap has been put in place that limits the amount of mods you can have active at any given time. For the Xbox One, the number of mods you can have running has been limited to 150, whereas PlayStation 4 players will have to make do with 100 mods. While both consoles have a limited amount of system data for mods, Sony's console didn't allow Fallout 4 and Skyrim to use as much of the system's storage as the Xbox One did.

There is good news, however. While you have a maximum of how many mods you're allowed to have actively running at any given time, you are still allowed to download as many mods as you want. In practice, this means that you'll have to make some hard decisions on which mods you'll want to enable and which ones you'll want to disable. Additionally, it is also possible that this cap will allow for more active mods at some point in the future if Bethesda feels they can make it work.

Implementing mods on the PlayStation 4 proved difficult for Bethesda, with Sony not making it easy for them to implement the heavily requested feature. It took a delay, an outright  cancellation of the feature, and the reintroduction of the feature seven months after Fallout 4 was released on the PlayStation 4 for mods to actually come to Sony's console.

What do you think of this news? Do you think 100/150 mods is too restrictive? Do you even need that many mods active at the same time? Let us know in the comment section down below!

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
