Bethesda announced today their plans for Fallout 4 DLC in a statement that covered the launch of Fallout 4 and what comes next. While this comes as a surprise to likely no one, this is the first instance Bethesda has publicly stated there will be DLC for Fallout 4. The Fallout publisher will offer a Season for Fallout 4 DLC at $30. The publisher stated this DLC covers “all of the Fallout 4 DLC we will ever do.” This means consumers (understandably) fearing a Season Pass buy not including all the DLC (such as with Borderlands 2 and Evolve) can be assured their purchase gets them all the DLC. Bethesda admits it still doesn’t know what the DLC will be, but that the content wont release till 2016.

Since we’re still hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you’ll get it all with the Season Pass.

The message also spoke on Mods and the Creation Kit. Bethesda revealed next year they will release the new Creation Kit for PC. The studio reiterated that users can mods created on the Creation Kit can even be shared with the Xbox One, and later the Playstation 4.

The most important thing in our games is the freedom you have to create your own experience, and modding is a big part of that. Like all our previous games, we’ve made sure to keep Fallout 4 open and moddable at every step in development. Early next year we’ll release for free the new Creation Kit for the PC. This is the same tool we use in the studio. You’ll be able to create your own mods and share them with others. We’re especially excited these same mods will then be coming to Xbox One, and then PlayStation 4.

Bethesda also touched on its plans to regularly update the game, stating it plans to make free regular updates like it did with Skyrim, adding fixes and new features.
