GOG.com revealed today that three big-name RPGs from Bethesda are finally going DRM free.

Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion are all now available on GOG at 50% off.

All three games are also special editions containing all released DLC, making them the most complete packages for the games available at this time.

Fallout 3: was the continuation of the Fallout series, taking place in the Capital Wasteland on the Eastern seaboard of the now post-nuclear United States.  Fallout: New Vegas takes the setting west to the Mojave Wasteland, and the bright lights of the gambling mecca New Vegas and continues more directly from the first two Fallout games. Finally, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion takes the open world role-playing of Morrowind and introduces the region of Cyrodiil.

All three titles are of course DRM-free, and will be fully compatible with mods and modifications.

In addition to the release of all three titles, GOG has also announced a Bethesda RPG sale, putting most of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series on sale for up to 75% off. Including the newly released titles, Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and the two Elder Scrolls Adventure games, Redguard and Battle Spire. All the titles will be up to 75% off until June 6th, so pick them up today while you can.

Quick Take

I have no problem with any of this. Fallout: New Vegas, in particular, is well worth the price, being one of the most solid RPGs in the past decade. Fallout 3 still has it's moments as well, and while Oblivion has not aged as well as the other two titles, the sheer amount of content in the game is impressive, to say the least.

To add to this though, the DRM-free and mod capabilities give the games a lot more longevity as well. Plus, getting copies of Morrowind and the other Fallout titles for cheap is just icing on the cake.
