German-based development team Fairytale Distillery has begun the localization process for their in-alpha title, The Exiled, localizing the game into French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Italian and German. Led by Alexander Zacherl, Fairtytale Distillery has been working on The Exiled, originally known as Das Tal and self-described as a “Sandbox MMO with Battlerite-style combat”, since 2013. The development team’s goal in working on The Exiled is to make MMOs fun for busy adult players by focusing on player-vs-player gameplay, and reducing the need for players to grind and utilize pay-to-win tactics.
The Exiled is set in a “dark fantasy prison valley”, where players will cooperate with each other to build clans and expand their influence to break free of their exile.
In addition to localizing the game into six languages, Fairytale Distillery has set up language-specific sub-forums and made 0.44 alpha patch notes available in all localization languages for interested players. Fairytale Distillery has also expressed interest in localizing their game in Turkish and Russian once full-game localization is underway, and is seeking interested volunteers to help with localization into those languages.
The Exiled was successfully Greenlit on Steam in 2014 and was nominated for “Best Indie Game” at Gamescom 2016, and is slated to enter Early Access in 2017 for PC, Mac, and Linux platforms. Fairytale Distillery will be running one final alpha test, beginning December 01, 2016 and ending December 21, 2016. Interested readers can participate in this alpha test by purchasing a Development Supporter Pack.
