DLC has never been too far from the conversation surrounding Evolve, Turtle Rock’s monster vs. humans multiplayer shooter. The release of its new content pack, or season, raises the issue again. Four hunters and one monster will be released, one at a time, in a period from June 23rd, 2015, to March 16th, 2016. Details on pricing have not been released at this time. Last go around, the season pack cost $24.99, and each individual hunter cost $7.49; however, the Evolve Hunting Season 2 pack will include the new monster, unlike the first season’s, so its price could be higher. Alternate skins are bundled as a bonus, including the monster’s.
The first release is Lennox, a new Assault-class hunter out on June 23rd. Lennox is the first hunter in Evolve that will not flinch when hit by heavy monster attacks, and her plasma lance is the first melee attack for any hunter. The whip incorporates a stacking effect for up to a 4x damage multiplier, although the stack is lost on damage to Lennox, time limit, or a missed hit. To close the gap to use the lance, her Thunderstrike attack leaps down on on a target area to do damage to a monster. The shoe is now on the other foot – previously, only the Goliath had this attack.
Evolve is now 50% off on Steam for the Steam Monster Summer Sale (no relation); it remains to be seen whether its new bundling strategy will attract players. Here’s the Lennox gameplay demo:
