Etrian Odyssey V Beyond the Myth Launch Edition Glam Shot

Atlus' upcoming RPG Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth will be getting a special launch edition with a number of physical bonus items, including an art book and a soundtrack.

According to a press release by Atlus, the Etrian Odyssey V launch edition will contain not only the game but also a 24-page art book filled with illustrations by designer Yuji Himukai and a 6-track music CD by long-time series composer Yuzo Koshiro.  The game will also be given an outer box sleeve to "protect the precious treasures it holds within."

Atlus has done 'launch editions' in the past under different names for the Etrian Odyssey series. All of them have included art books and CD soundtracks in the past as well, all typically available for the retail price.

Atlus is also ramping up the marketing for Etrian Odyssey V, which sees the series celebrating it's 10 year anniversary. A new trailer was released showing off the Dragoon Class.

The Dragoon acts as a shield for your party, soaking up powerful attacks from enemy monsters. Dragoon's are also masters of long-range weapons, in particular, their special 'hand-cannon' allowing them to strike even multiple opponents in a row. Dragoons can go full defensive or offensive when choosing a master form, emphasizing their particular strengths for the party.

The Etrian Odyssey series is a dungeon-crawler RPG that invokes classic RPG titles such as Wizardry, where players create a custom-made party of adventurers and traverse through a large dungeon killing enemies. All games in the series have been released on handheld systems, most notably the Nintendo DS. In total, four main games have been released, with two "remakes" of Etrian Odyssey 1 and 2 for the Nintendo 3DS. A crossover game with the Mystery Dungeon series was also released for the 3DS in 2015.

Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth is going back to the series roots, featuring the more traditional dungeon crawl aspects from the previous entries to the series. The game is already released in Japan, with a Western release planned for the fall of 2017.
