The Epic Mega Sale Is Here With Discounts On Everything Weekly Free Game

The announcement of the first Epic Games Store sale was leaked a couple of days ago, by an erroneous Fortnite message of the day. We've been waiting for more news from Epic Games since then, and now the Epic Mega Sale is up and running. It will be available from May 16 to June 13, with a bunch of great exclusive games up to 75% off. And the kicker is: for every game purchase costing $14.99 and above, the store provides an additional $10 off to you at no cost to the publisher or developer, which is a great deal for both gamers and developers. And if you previously pre-ordered an unreleased game from the store, you'll receive a $10 refund automatically.

The store is also giving away a free game every week during the sale, as opposed to the bi-weekly schedule we've had since January. The first game that will be given away during the sale will be Stories Untold. If you have any more questions, refer to the FAQ provided by the store. Here's our selection of Epic Games Store titles, based on United States prices. Regional pricing may differ, as may discounts.

Disclosure: Epic Games Store works with TechRaptor for affiliate partnership, and TechRaptor earns a small commission off purchases made from some links in this article.

Metro Exodus ($39.99 - 20% off) (Our Review) was the first major Epic Games Store exclusive to cause a great furor among PC gamers. According to our reviewer, it's a 9.5/10 game, an amazing open-world shooter that builds on the legacy of the original Metro 2033 (Our Review) and Metro Last Light (Our Review). You can also get the Gold Edition with $10 off.

Borderlands 3 ($49.99 - 17% off) is the long-awaited sequel to the highly popular and acclaimed looter-shooter, officially announced last month after the most drawn-out game announcement in history. It promises to be bigger and better than previous Borderlands titles, especially if you were hoping for Guns With Legs.

Hades ($6.99 - 65% off) (Our Preview) is a frantic hack-and-slash by Supergiant Games, developers of Bastion and Transistor. It's currently in Early Access, but it's already a very meaty game, and the May 2019 latest update is actually called The Beefy Update, which includes a ton of new content.

John Wick Hex ($7.99 - 60% off) was announced just last week, and it's a tactical action indie game based on the blockbuster action movie series featuring meme lord John Wick (Keanu Reeves). The trailer gives us a glimpse of the tactical gameplay and the cinematic scenes that looks quite promising. It's being developed by Bithell Games, developer of Thomas Was Alone and Subsurface Circular.

Satisfactory ($19.95 - 33% off) is a first-person open-world factory building game. It looks like Factorio except in first-person and with pretty decent graphics. It's also still in Early Access, but this is the kind of game you can play and replay for hours on end, even if it isn't finished yet.

Ashen ($19.99 - 50% off) (Our Review) is a third-person ARPG that looks and plays like a "Soulslite," taking place in a barren dark fantasy world and offering you plenty of tough battles and hard-to-pin-down bosses. If you're a Souls fan looking to relax, this is the game for you.

Afterparty ($9.99 - 50% off) is an indie adventure game where you literally have to outdrink Satan in the underworld. That's the fascinating core premise for the game in development by Night School Studio, creators of Oxenfree, featuring a similar art style and atmosphere.

The Sinking City ($49.99 - 17% off) is an adventure investigation game inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft where you will play as a 1920s detective caught in a flooded city. Developed by Frogware, the studio that developed almost a dozen Sherlock Holmes games, it looks like a great game for all sleuth aspirants.

World War Z ($19.99 - 43% off) (Our Review) is a four-player cooperative third-person shooter where you get to take down hordes of zombies even if you're not Brad Pitt. Especially if you're not, since the game is actually based on the book more than the movie, so if you were hoping for a great Left 4 Dead substitute with a brainy story (pun intended), this is it.

Control ($49.99 - 17% off) is the upcoming title by Remedy Entertainment, creators of Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break (Our Review), and others. You know what to expect: coherent and fascinating storytelling on top of satisfying third-person shooter action-adventure gameplay. Here's our interview with the game director from last year.

Oxygen Not Included ($8.74 - 65% off) is leaving Early Access later this month, and that makes this a great time to check in. It's a space-colony simulation from Klei Entertainment, developers of the massively popular Don't Starve games, but also Invisible, Inc., and Mark of the Ninja. The studio has a track record for highly engaging and quality releases, and you shouldn't expect less with Oxygen Not Included.

Beyond Two Souls ($9.99), Heavy Rain $9.99), Detroit: Become Human ($29.99) are the three Quantic Dreams titles coming to PC via the Epic Games Store, after previously having been PlayStation exclusives. With demos coming and release dates announced you may very well want to take the chance to get each of these games for $10 off if you've been interested in them.

Observation ($12.49 - 50% off) is an upcoming title from Devolver Digital and No Code. In this game, you explore what happened on a space station through the role of the artificial intelligence S.A.M., or Sam. If you're not sure if this type of game would interest you, No Code's previous game, Stories Untold is the free game right now on the Epic Games Store. You can also check out our first impressions from our very own Sam on our YouTube channel. If you do, please hit like and subscribe!
