Epic Chaos Continues As Borderlands 3 Is Removed From Epic Mega Sale

Update:

Publisher 2K Games has responded to us about why Borderlands 3 is no longer for sale, with a comment that matches what Klei and Paradox have said. Their representative told us,

“We are working closely with Epic and have temporarily removed Borderlands 3 from their storefront. We look forward to the game being back on the Epic Games store soon. Games bought during their Mega Sale will be honored at that price.”

Original Story Below

We've been reporting on the general disarray of the Epic Games Store's first sale since yesterday, with several price changes and games being removed from sale, as requested by developers and publishers, such as Ubisoft, Paradox Interactive, and Klei Entertainment. Now it's Gearbox Software's Borderlands 3 that is no longer available to pre-order, with or without discounts. If you refer to the Borderlands 3 page on the Epic Games Store, you will now see that it only says "Coming Soon," where it originally was available for pre-order, at least as of the time of writing of our deal article, for $49.99 with a 17% discount.

When reached out to, an Epic Games representative said that we would have to discuss the matter with the publisher, which is a different response than we have seen in other cases where games were pulled from the sale. Developers who have decided to pull their games from the Epic Mega Sale since the sale started include Paradox Interactive, who was the first to pull Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, and the game page is no longer available. Klei Entertainment was next, pulling Oxygen Not Included, and the same now happens with the game page. It's also not possible to browse these games through the Epic Games client.

It appears that it is not an issue that is cross-platform for Borderlands 3 as it remains available to pre-order on consoles.

Our original article on the whole affair of fluctuating prices and games being pulled has since been updated to reflect the statements from publishers and developers. Epic Games also made a very public statement on Twitter earlier this afternoon:

We have reached out to Gearbox Software and 2K for comment and further information about why Borderlands 3 is no longer available to pre-order on the Epic Games Store and will update when we learn more.
