Epic Games have today announced a brand new grant program, Epic Mega Grants. The new grant will be open to multiple artistic disciplines from game development to film making and even enterprise and educational purposes. Epic has promised to consider any and all grant proposals that they receive, regardless of how big or small they may be. The grant aims to give away $100 million to many different artists, creators, and businesses over the next 5 years, in an effort to give back to the communities that helped Epic to grow to their current size.

Those people, projects or businesses in receipt of an Epic Mega Grant will be under no obligation to Epic once their projects have been completed according to the companies presentation. Epic Games hopes that this grant will be used to promote artistic endeavors and creative ideas around the globe, and said that it was the commercial success of Fortnite that had allowed them the financial freedom to back this sort of program.

The grant applications must in some way use the Unreal Engine in their proposal and will range in size from $5000 to $500,000. This part of the presentation came just before Epic made a point of showing off the things that UE4 was capable of outside the realms of gaming, including film production, realistic artistry and even the production of real-world AR artificial humans. More information about how to apply for a grant will be made available in the near future.
