Cambridge-based development studio Frontier Developments have announced that two of their most recent games will be making their way to brick and mortar stores in North America.

The first of these 2 games is Elite: Dangerous. For the uninitiated: Elite: Dangerous sets you loose in the truly vast Milky Way galaxy. Players get to decide what to do from there on out; will you become a trader ferrying cargo from one starport to the next, or are you planning on preying on unsuspecting merchants for their valuable cargo?

On your way to becoming the most successful pilot, you’ll be able to acquire and upgrade new ships and weapons, team up with your friends and use the fragile economy of any given star system to your advantage. The physical release has been titled the Elite: Dangerous Legendary Edition and has all the content found in the Commander Deluxe Edition found on the Xbox store. In addition to that content, you’ll also get the Horizons expansion pass and 1000 Frontier Points you can use to buy cosmetics from the Frontier Developments store. The release date will be announced in the not too distant future.

The second game coming to a store near you is Planet Coaster, a spiritual successor to Rollercoaster Tycoon that has all but taken its place in the modern zeitgeist of park manager games. Players will be able to design their dream park using a large amount of items, triggers and decorative items. If you’re not the most creative rollercoaster designer, you can grab o e made by other players via the Steam Workshop. Planet Coaster is scheduled to release to physical stores on May 23 as a PC exclusive. Here’s a review of the game by our very own Robert N. Adams if you haven’t made up your mind yet.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Frontier Developments on two of the best titles created in Britain in recent years. Frontier’s creativity, passion and quality is something we admire, and we’re looking forward to working together to take these titles to retail stores around the world”

-Garry Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Sold Out Sales & Marketing.

Both Planet Coaster and Elite: Dangerous will be published by Sold Out, a UK-based publisher that previously published games by Team 17 (Worms) and Introversion Games (Prison Architect).

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
