Everybody's favorite cake-throwing/trampoline-jumping EDM DJ Steve Aoki has purchased and announced the new partnership with the nascent eSports organization Rogue during Aoki's performance at this year's Twitchcon.

The press release released via Rogue's Twitter page describes how the new partnership with the prominent dance music artist came about:

Having been a life long gamer, STEVE AOKI became determined to build an eSports team after his experience at PAX East in April of this year, where he was invited to participate in a Street Fighter V exhibition match. He has been involved in eSports since his first introduction to Twitch after having hosted the platform's first non- gaming livestream, his performance at Pacha in Ibiza back in 2015. Steve has streamed online with both celebrities and professional eSports players at his Dim Mak production studio in Los Angeles.
This led Aoki to Rogue, a new eSports organization managed by industry veterans based in Las Vegas. Buying Rogue allows Aoki to hit the ground running while being supported by people who have experience in the eSports industry.

Rogue, while still a relatively young organization, already have had some claim to fame in the competitive scenes for games like Overwatch and were getting to the point where Rogue "wanted to bring on another partner".

Oaki will mainly support Rogue's Overwatch team in the coming competitive seasons and he will also help setting up Rogue's new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, which hasn't been beaten in competition at the time of writing this.

While the eSports scene has been growing exponentially over the last few years, the acquisition of Rogue by Aoki marks one of the first times a major celebrity is directly involved in the eSports industry.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
