A new turn-based RPG by the name of Earthlock: Festival of Magic has been announced to be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Developed as a result of a collaboration between Snowcastle Games and SOEDESCO Publishing. Earthlock: Festival of Magic is inspired by early 3D RPGs and brings back many familiar features in a "refreshing and rejuvenating new form, shown off in a beautiful hand-drawn art style."

The game takes place in Zaber in the magical world of Umbra that stopped spinning thousands of cycles ago. Here, desert scavenger Amon finds himself in the "adventure of his life when he crosses paths with a most peculiar creature." The game will have you joining other "remarkable heroes" in fast and deep turn-based battles. Players can battle using two different stances per character as well as with unique abilities built through character skill trees.

Players can harvest magical materials and craft items to help them in their adventure. The game also claims to feature thorough character customization, along with a set of "unlikely and unique heroes, each with their own unique fighting style." The game's "Talent Table" is a classic skill tree combined with equipment to bring a variety of character customization to the table.

Reviewers who have played the game early have compared it with everything from Xenoblade Chronicles to Breath of Fire and even Harvest Moon.

If the game lives up to its promises of being like a classic turn-based RPG, I can definitely see it bringing in the nostalgia crowd looking to relive their gaming childhood. The game has a release date of September 1st for both Steam and Microsoft's Xbox One. There is no word on any release date for Sony's PlayStation, but we'll keep you up-to-date when one is announced.
