According to a recent job listing, EA is working on an open-world Star Wars game, with online elements. The listing appeared on March 20 is recruiting for a Lead Online Engineer to "Lead a team to deliver Online features for a Star Wars Open World project." No further details on the game are given, but the job is located at EA's Vancouver studio. EA has not officially commented on the news, so we will add more details as we get them.

EA closed down another Star Wars project last year after shuttering Visceral Games. The team were working on a story-focused, single player Star Wars game, headed up by Amy Hennig, of Uncharted fame. After the closure of the studio, the assets from the project was set to be handed over to EA Vancouver who would lead a new project and is behind this hiring.

EA's Star Wars projects have been a mixed bag so far, with Star Wars Battlefront II sparking controversy over its approach to loot boxes and microtransactions. The company recently outlined plans to introduce a new progression system, after all microtransactions were pulled from the game last year in the wake of that controversy. The new systems completely forgo any pay to win mentality, with perks and gameplay upgrades tied exclusively to XP.

Other than these projects, we also know of another Star Wars game that is in the works. Titanfall developer Respawn is working on a third-person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. The game is still heavily under wraps, with a few glimpses of concept art given in an E3 video last year.
