Jesse Wellens @Jessewelle who became famous for his YouTube antics, joined EA´s Executive Producer, Marcus Nilsson at EA Live to show off the next Need for Speed game: Need for Speed Payback.

We learned last month that Need for Speed Payback will not feature the often criticized always online mode. Today, we learned about the three new protagonists you will take to the road with. The story will cover Tyler, Jess, and Mac as it puts them behind the wheel of an "action driving fantasy." Each character will play a unique role in this revenge driven narrative. Just as EA showed off throughout their presentation today with Madden's Longshot mode & FIFA's The Journey: Hunter Returns, it looks like they are focusing on delivering well crafted story modes in each of their games this year. The trailer they showed gives off serious Fast and Furious vibes.

EA promises that this will be the most diverse open world racer to date. In Payback, you will be able to completely customize vehicles from the junkyard to the race track. They showed off an old Volkswagen Beetle that goes from being abandoned in a field, to winning races on the track. The new Need for Speed Payback website states that you will be able to find abandoned vehicles throughout the world in five unique classes, Race, Drift, Off-Road, Drag, and Runner. Each of these can be fine-tuned by collecting after-market parts.

As you can see in the game play trailer, this isn't your normal racing game. Payback focuses on major cinematic crashes and explosion as you try to force any obstacle that stands in your way off the road. The trailer ends with Jess stealing a beautiful Koenigsegg Regera only to find herself face to face with a police copter. Our team is going hands on with the game right now so expect even more coverage, along with detailed impressions, as E3 2017 continues throughout the week!

Do you think Need for Speed Payback will hold up against the next Forza and Gran Turismo Sport that are sure to be shown off this week?
