EA has released details of Battlefield 1’s Summer Update. Most notably, the update promises “full 4K resolution” alongside HDR for the Xbox One X.

While there is an asterisk next to that in the announcement, it is to note that it is only on the Xbox One X, not that it is upscaling any lower resolution. It also does not make note of 4K coming to the PlayStation 4 Pro, so this is an Xbox exclusive.

For every platform, there are many updates improving the match experience, fixes, and improvements to maps, interface updates, and gameplay.

Matches will have improved loading times while customizing the player’s character, while glitches that have been fixed include a map vote glitch, and a squad boost countdown glitch. Map votes are now reinforced when changing server hosts, and a join queue glitch has been fixed as well.

The Lupkow Pass map has had some rebalancing done, with the stated goal being “to make the first sector a little easier and to reduce the impact of the Behemoth”. The first sector boundary has been changed to make it harder for Defenders, as have Sectors 2 and 3. An airship has been removed from Sectors 2-4, but it remains in Sector 1.

Other tweaks have also been made. Zeebrugge has also been changed and rebalanced in favor of Attackers. EA notes that “the goal here is to help the Attackers during the first sector as much as possible. The remaining sectors look pretty good from a sector loss perspective, making the first sector easier should help Attackers build some momentum.”

Changes include Sector 1’s lighthouse being changed to part of the Attacker HQ, slower plane respawn times for Defenders, and Defenders getting the second plane when Attackers reach Sector 3 instead of Sector 2.

For gameplay, EA has fixed “instances where players could grief teammates using shell type weaponry such as mortars and AA guns”, a glitch where damage resulting in less than 0.5 points was not messaged, and added friendly flares with a radius, helping recon players to coordinate.

In addition, options for adjusting interface objects such as crosshair size, messages, and HUD elements have been added. A full list of changes is available here and the update is now live on all platforms.
