EA Access Comes To PlayStation Store In July

Electronic Arts just published a press release announcing the expansion of their premium monthly subscription service EA Access to include the PlayStation 4 console platform. Starting July 2019, PlayStation 4 users will be able to sign up for the monthly subscription service for the price $4.99 per month or an annual subscription for $29.99 through the PlayStation Store. The PlayStation 4 expansion of EA Access adds to the roster of the already existing membership services on their PC digital distribution platform Origin (which uses its unique Origin Access rather than EA Access) and one of the other major console platforms, Xbox One.

According to the announcement, Electronic Arts now offers its subscription service on more platforms than any other publisher. Matt Bilbey, Executive VP of Strategic Growth at Electronic Arts, talked about the expansion with excitement:

As we continue to invest in digital and subscription services, bringing great games to even more players across more platforms is an exciting opportunity for everyone. Our goal is to give players more choice to try and play our games wherever and however they choose, and we’re happy to bring EA Access to PlayStation 4.
The perks of EA access membership include the feature Play First Trials, which allows players to try out up to 10 hours of most new EA games. Subscribers also get a 10% discount on full game purchases, expansions, in-game items, and much more. Beyond that, players can also enjoy a growing library of EA games, some of which include the best of EA such as BattlefieldFIFAStar Wars Battlefront, and more.

You can now sign up to stay up-to-date on EA Access news on the PlayStation 4 on the official website. You can also see the conditions, limitations, and exclusions for the subscription service on the same website.

This now leaves the Nintendo Switch as the only major console without the subscription service. Whether that changes in the future remains to be seen.
