A few months ago during GDC 2017, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed the existence of Borderlands 3 during a presentation highlighting his studio’s current work utilizing Unreal Engine 4. While he stressed that many of the assets and environments on display were a work in progress and would likely not turn up in the game, he nevertheless confirmed that his team was “working on it; we’ll get you soon.” However, a recent listing for the third title in the irreverent series might be an indicator that when Pitchford said, “soon,” he truly meant it.
UK online retailer Base currently has two links to pre-order Borderlands 3 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for £44.99 each, which is even complemented by a convincing logo. While there seems to be a placeholder release date for now, it suggests that the game will release sometime in late 2017, but even that doesn’t seem particularly likely.
Gearbox Software doesn’t seem to have a prominent presence at E3 2017 based on its social media, but perhaps we will witness a surprise reveal early this week. In the meantime, you can check out Pitchford’s presentation below to see how Borderlands 3 is shaping up.
