Statik

Statik is a new game debuting at E3 2016 for the PlayStation VR.  The Swedish-based indie development team, Tarsier Studios, has previously worked on DLC for titles in the LittleBigPlanet franchise, as well as Desert Diner, Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, and most recently Tearaway Unfolded.  Information on this new title is currently limited to what was posted on the PlayStation blog today.

Statik focuses around two characters, Dr. Ingen and Edith who, according to today's announcement are, "On a journey to unravel the complexities of the human mind".  Gameplay consists of interacting with and trying to solve hand-mounted puzzles via the PlayStation VR, which Tarsier Studios hints won't be easy as the PlayStation VR will interfere with the player's senses.  This interactive website seems to tease at more information on the game's plot and characters.

According to Tarsier Studios, Statik will also be featured at other events in the future, although they don't hint at what those events will be.

A trailer for Statik can be seen below.

Quick Take

Overall this game looks to be very interesting and as one of the comments on the PlayStation blog said, will be a welcome break from the games the PlayStation VR is expected to have available.  To my knowledge, this will be the first game to explore a disassociation between the players hands and system, and if Statik does well it could set an interesting precedent for future PlayStation VR titles.  This is one game I'm really looking forward to hearing more about at E3 2016.
