Rock Band Rivals

Developer Harmonix has unveiled the latest DLC offering for their current game Rock Band, titled Rock Band Rivals.

Fully compatible with Rock Band 4, the DLC expansion will be adding new gameplay modes for players of the popular rhythm game, although what those modes are Harmonix did not share with the public. They were, however, enthusiastic to announce the expansion pack, along with new bundles for Rock Band 4 for the Xbox One and PS4.

The bundles themselves feature a new wireless guitar controller, modeled after the Fender Jaguar, complete with an ultramarine blue finish. The controller, designed by PDP, has a new feature added to the mix, being foldable for tight spaces and on the road playing. Harmonix touts it as the first foldable peripheral in the Rock Band library.

In addition to the new guitar, Harmonix is also offering new side peripherals for the hardcore rockers out there. In particular is a new charging dock, priced at $29.99, designed exclusively for the Fender Jaguar guitar which will contain a rechargeable battery pack. Also being introduced is a new wired legacy adapter for Xbox One owners, to use the Rock Band 3 Midi PRO-Adapter or the ION Drum Rocker from the Xbox 360 for Rock Band 4, also priced at $29.99.

While Harmonix was sparse on the details of Rock Band Rivals, they did price the expansion. The DLC will be able to be downloaded and added to Rock Band 4 for $29.99, while PDP and Harmonix are planning on releasing two bundles for Rock Band Rivals. The first, priced at $89.99, will feature a copy of Rock Band 4 with Rock Band Rivals, and the Fender Jaguar Guitar. The second bundle, priced at $199.99, will include the game, expansion, the guitar, a microphone and a drum kit for players.

The release date for all of these bundles and the expansion is set for next fall. In the meantime, you can find more of our E3 coverage at our E3 2016 Coverage Hub.
