Earths Dawn E3 Trailer Release

Earth's Dawn, known as Earth Wars in Japan, is coming over to the West thanks to Rising Star Games.

Earth's Dawn is a side-scrolling action game with RPG elements which has you create a customizable character to fight off an invading alien force, known as the E.B.E., who have nearly taken over the planet. The action is fast and frantic, but publisher Red Star Games is promising a lot of depth in the combat system, where players can string together combos and finishing moves to dispatch enemies. After each fight, players are evaluated based on their skill and expertise and are rewarded with points that can be used to level up your character.

The art style is reminiscent of the Vanillaware titles such as Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Odin Sphere, but with a more "manga edge" to the sci-fi setting. The game was actually released last year by Japanese developer OneOrEight, whose only title thus far is Earth's Dawn. Rising Star Games is a very prolific publisher of indie titles, boasting about the 120 games in their library released on multiple platforms worldwide, such as Lumo, Poncho, and Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut.

Earth's Dawn will see a release this fall as a downloadable title for both the Xbox One and the Playstation 4. A physical version of the game will also be released for the Playstation 4, and a PC version has also been announced, but will be released on a later date.

Quick Take

The game looks cool to me. I do get some Vanillaware vibes due to the hand-drawn art style and although the character faces look a bit stiff, the animation looks solid overall. It kind of reminds me of Dragons Crown in a way, another Vanillaware title, with it being a side-scrolling adventure-RPG.

Hopefully Earth's Dawn plays as well as it looks, but what do you think about the game? Leave your comments below.
