Publisher PQube announced today that Taiwanese action/musou game Dusk Diver will launch worldwide on Switch and PS4 this autumn. Dusk Diver entered Steam Early Access in late March, earlier this year. Both console versions will reportedly come with extra content not available in the PC version, though there's little information as to what this might be. Additionally, the Steam release will get bumped up to 60 fps from 30 currently, as well as a number of bug-fixing patches. The console versions will feature full Japanese and Chinese voice acting, with a number of subtitle options. There's no specific release date locked down yet, but Dusk Diver will find its way to consoles sometime later this year.
Set in the historic Ximending district of Taipei, Dusk Diver stars a high school girl drawn into a conflict beyond her wildest dreams. When Yang Yumo hopes to spend an average afternoon hanging out with friends in Ximending, she instead finds herself drawn into the parallel world of Youshanding. Monsters quickly set upon Yumo, who discovers that she has supernatural powers. Now, she must fight to free both sides of Taipei's legendary district from the clutches of monsters, while allying herself with spiritual guardians along the way.
Steeped in Taiwanese lore and history, Dusk Diver hopes to appeal to an audience that hasn't experienced Taiwan's capital city. Developer JFI Games, a relative newcomer to the gaming world spent many hours working to capture the spirit and aesthetics of a region sometimes referred to as the "Shinjuku of Taipei." As a pedestrian shopping mall, one would hope that a lively district would be captured effectively, much like Akihabara in Akiba's Trip. Still, for PQube, Dusk Diver looks to be one of, if not the first Taiwanese game published by the prolific publisher. We'll get to experience the nightlife of Taipei's Ximending district when Dusk Diver launches later this fall.
