Last week Vernon Shaw, co-creator of Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator, revealed that the cult hit will make its way to the PlayStation 4 on Oct. 30. The new release, devilishly dubbed the Dadrector’s Cut, will come with additional content along with everything that was initially released in July 2017. It will also launch on Steam in October. Current owners of the game can expect the extra content in a free update.

Dream Daddy: Dadrector’s Cut comes with new side quests and a new minigame, one of the many aspects the game is known for. Previously cut content will be added to the dating simulator, and minigames can be replayed outside the story.

The raunchy humor of this dad-focused visual novel ran rampant on the internet upon release. The Game Grumps, a group of popular YouTube content creators, had a hand in making Dream Daddy. Aside from the game’s ridiculous but endearing premise, it’s known for its fine-tuned comedic writing, spearheaded by creators Shaw and Leighton Gray.

Players create their own dad character, who recently moved to a new neighborhood with his daughter. His seven neighbors are all single bachelors with children of their own. It’s up to the player to make choices to seduce the best dad in town while being the best father for his only daughter.

The game made waves, particularly on Tumblr. It spawned hundreds if not thousands of pieces of fan art. Oni Press, a comic and graphic novel publisher based in Portland, Oregon, picked up on the game’s success. The publisher has released two issues, with three more stories planned.

Fans of the game can date their calendars (and their fantasy dads) on Oct. 30 on PC, Mac, and the newly added PS4.

On the occasions when I'm not talking about how good the Persona series is, I'm probably playing video games. When I'm not playing games, I'm probably talking about them on the Tiny Disc Podcast. I also enjoy practicing my cooking and mixology.
