Sony announced today that David Jaffe's (God of War, Twisted Metal) new game Drawn To Death will make its debut on the PlayStation 4 on April 4, 2017. Jaffe has written a blog post on the official PlayStation Blog that divulges new information on the competitive multiplayer game.

Hey y’all, it’s Jaffe, game director over at The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency. I have a confession to make. For the past few months, whenever players would suggest that Drawn To Death would be a perfect fit as one of the free games for PlayStation Plus, I’d have to bite my tongue (And if you know me, you know that ain’t easy!).
Jaffe goes on to say that he loved the idea, but he and his team were quiet about it. . . until now.
We’ve been working on Drawn To Death for nearly three years, and over time, it really has become this robust, highly competitive game — and we haven’t even talked about a lot of the new features yet. Needless to say, I thought you could all help us build an unbelievable community for the game.
There most definitely is a chance of Drawn To Death hitting the ground running because of PS Plus. They could be following in the footsteps of Rocket League, which has gone on to become a major success after its inclusion in the PS Plus line-up.

Drawn To Death pits you against other players in third-person action multiplayer matches, all of which take place inside the pages of a teenager's notebook. The game has several arenas and you'll have to master them all to win.

There won't weapon progression in Drawn To Death because Jaffe wants skill to be the "only determining factor" for victory. You will, however, be able to level your characters up. Doing so won't get you anything that'll make beating less-experienced players a walk in the park, though.

Jaffe also posted some new information regarding the different game modes present in Drawn To Death:

  • Sphinx Missions: These missions need you to solve eight "battle-focussed" riddles. Every time you solve a riddle, you'll get a new weapon or level.
  • Character-centric Missions:  The six characters present at launch will each have access to character-specific missions. Beating levels gets you cosmetic rewards like costumes and rare taunts.
  • Climb The Tower: This mode has you climbing a tower. Every floor you reach gives you stickers as a reward. If you play this game in ranked, you'll get a bigger award if you manage to reach the top.
In addition to this, Drawn To Death has a loot crate system titled 'Mystery Boxes' containing cosmetic items. You earn one every 150 kills.

If you want to know more, you can tune into a special live stream later today at 3:00 PM Pacific.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
