Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced something that a lot of Dragon Ball fans have been hoping for: an honest-to-goodness Action RPG. Titled Dragon Ball Game Project Z, this upcoming epic looks like it will be bringing a bunch of classic characters together with beautiful cel-shaded animation.

For the moment, all we really know about Dragon Ball Game Project Z has been revealed in a trailer uploaded to Bandai Namco Entertainment's YouTube channel, so let's just go ahead and give that a watch first:

The trailer opens with a brief history of some of the more recent games in the Dragon Ball universe before moving on to announcing Project Z. Billed as an action RPG, we get to see a bunch of different scenes that are well-familiar to fans of the show. From what we can see so far, it seems that the game will be covering at least up to the bits of their trip to Namek and the earliest stages of Goku's Super Saiyan transformations. That's just a drop in the Dragon Ball bucket, but it's still a pretty hefty chunk of material!

Unfortunately, there's a lot that we don't see. We can't really see how Dragon Ball Game Project Z is going to work in terms of gameplay. Will we get honest-to-goodness free roam or will you be contained to certain levels? How will the battles play out? How much does the game really cover? Hopefully, these questions and more will be answered in the coming weeks and months.

The other point of interest is the name of the game. Dragon Ball Game Fighter Z does seem awfully awkward, but then again this is from a nation that has a beverage called Pocari Sweat so who even knows anymore. You can look forward to getting your hands on this game sometime in 2019. We certainly liked the last Dragon Ball title, so here's hoping that this too will be a good'un.

What do you think of Dragon Ball Game Fighter Z? Do you think that's the actual name of the game or just a placeholder? What do you think the gameplay will be like? Let us know in the comments below!
