“The largest in-oerson gaming event ever held on the east coast” is coming to New York this October. ESL (Electronic Sports League) will be holding a live Dota 2 tournament in Madison Square Garden, seating 5500 spectators. The competition will be held during New Yorks first annual “Super Week”; a ten day long extravaganza of nerd culture, comedy shows, lectures and more.
It’s worth mentioning that this is only the largest e-tournament for the east coast. The sold out tournament in Frankfurt, Germany for instance had over twice as many, holding 12,500 people. The top 8 Dota 2 teams will compete in the famous arena for the prize of $100,000. The whole thing will be broadcasted on Twitch thanks to JoinDota. The tournament will be held October 9th and 10th and Super Week itself will go from October 3rd to October 10th.
