KillHouse Games has announced a sequel to their popular Real Time SWAT Strategy game Door Kickers.

In a post on the Steam Community site the devs from KillHouse did some celebration over the 3rd year of Door Kickers' release, cheating a bit since the game got its final release from Early Access in October 2014. In the last year KillHouse has focused on the mobile and tablet platforms, taking advantage of the game's touch-screen friendly path drawing controls.

Also mentioned is the range of languages the game has been translated for and the partnership with modder Red Panda to bring mods to a mobile platform. Last, but not least, Door Kickers has been picked up by publisher UIEG.DE and will be hitting retail shelves in February this year.

Most importantly is the announcement of the sequel; Door Kickers 2. From the steam post:

As 2015 has come to an end, it’s time to talk about the future, and the future is Door Kickers 2 … and more.
DK2 brings the step to 3D: environments, characters – but keeps the clear and easy-to-use top down perspective and hardcore, unforgiving action. It keeps the real life action but moves it to a new and exciting setting. And it changes … everything.

Oh, are we being a little vague? Yes, we are.
On Sunday, January the 17th of 2016 you will know more. In case you wonder, that’s exactly 3 years after we let the first news out on Door Kickers.

We at TechRaptor (and by we, I mean me) enjoyed Door Kickers thoroughly. Its a simple, fun game that has surprisingly deep strategy elements and a ton of staying power with dozens of levels. Door Kickers received solid reviews both from users on Steam who have rated it overwhelmingly positive and from the gaming press. While there were a few small issues, KillHouse has a solid foundation on which to build a sequel.  It remains to be seen how 3D will be implemented for a top down title or how it will "change everything" but it is definitely a game worth following.

We'll have coverage of the event on Sunday January 17th, 2016 and will be ready to review Door Kickers 2 as soon as we are able to.
