The 2016 DOOM reboot (Our Review) was as successful as it was frantic, likely the fastest and most FPS-intensive (in both senses of the acronym) DOOM of all time. Bethesda Softworks and id Software have supported the game since release, and it's still a popular multiplayer title with several modes, level creation, and plenty of other options. It's with that in mind that they are now opening the DOOM Slayers Club, which seems basically like a customer loyalty program to encourage and reward DOOM fans for interacting with the game and the community.
Bethesda announced the program as part of the 25 years celebration of DOOM, and they are now announcing 2019 as the Year of DOOM. According to Bethesda, "The Slayers Club website has evolved to bring you nonstop DOOM content to enjoy and even reward you for participating along with the world’s fellow Slayers." As you participate in the Slayers Club you will earn points, rank up, and maybe even win some freebie collector's items.
You will earn Slayer Points for everything you do on the site. The special in-game challenge for DOOM will give you plenty of points, but also reading articles, watching videos, or even submitting your best fan art. These are all ways you have of earning points in the Slayers Club. Once you add up a certain amount of Slayer Points, you'll rank up, and the Slayers Club rank isn't just something to measure up against fellow Slayers, it could also get you some special in-game content, such as Slayer skins for DOOM Eternal when it launches.
Slayers Club members will also earn entries for the monthly prize pool, giving you a chance to win all kinds of DOOM goodies such as t-shirts, vinyl records, DOOM Slayer figures, and so on.
