Soon it’ll be time to go back to Hell with Doom getting released next month. If you haven’t gotten a chance to try the game out you’ll soon get that chance. Doom will be getting an open beta starting April 15th and lasting until the 17th.

The beta, which will be available on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One along with Steam, won’t feature all the content in Doom. It will have two game modes, Team Deathmatch and Warpath, and two maps, Heatwave and Infernal. This is similar to the closed beta they recently held which was available to those who had pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order or bought that title early in store.

Developer id Software has also announced that they plan to keep Doom supported with free updates as well, especially for the map creating SnapMap mode. In the future they’ll be adding new props, modules, objects, editing tools, and more to SnapMap. Furthermore, they said that players will easily be able to access modes and levels created by SnapMap. While SnapMap will be getting the majority of the free content, id also said that they will be releasing new multiplayer game modes for free as well.

While SnapMap will be getting free updates and new game modes will be free, id does have plans for paid content as well. There will be three multiplayer-focused DLCs for Doom, and a season pass if you want to just get them all in one go. While the exact details haven’t been announced yet, the first DLC will include three new maps, a new weapon, a new playable demon, new armor, equipment, customization options, and taunts. The DLCs will cost $14.99 (£11.99 [UK]) each, or you can get them all for $39.99 (£29.99 [UK]) in the season pass. Worth noting is that at this time there is no mention of single player DLC.

Again with the stupid multiplayer! Why not a single player demo? Not everyone is into multiplayer.

  • Aiat

Ahhh, it is so cute they think they can be COD with their dumb DLC :D.

  • Zepherdog

Don’t you know? they want that CoD audience bucks.

    >Season Pass
    >Multiplayer DLC

    Here’s hoping this flops hard.

DOOM proves that id Software is creatively stagnant. The sequel to RAGE was cancelled. The Wolfenstein series was farmed out to MachineGames, who took it to a whole new level. All id has to offer is another re-imagining of its big hit from 1993. The company was once way ahead of everybody else in FPS development and now it’s trailing far behind.

I know… and that is why I hate CoD SOOOO MUCH!!

  • Galbador

You are for sure a brilliant poet <3

  • Zepherdog

I will always find it funny that most CoD Drones don’t actually want anything BUT CoD, regardless of how (superficially) appealing other franchises try to be.

  • Serathis

I always find that funny how none of the devs seem to realize that. Thats where Red Orchestra 2 and Titanfall fell flat on their faces.

I have a hard time seeing map pack season pass be worth anything. Very few game with MP holds for long now. They can last like a 1 or 2 years then the next big thing comes out or people goes back to SC:GO, TF2 or the next COD. Unless they offer some new kind of crack everyone wants. So fare I have yet to see that happened.

  • Galbador

I will always find it funny that CoD drones don’t get that they play the same game all over again and even pay for it! Just like those FIFA guys x’D

  • This game looks and plays great, but the idea of a season pass in this game for MP only content is infuriating. For SP content i could understand a $30 season pass at most, but this is a joke.
