Twin Mirror Delayed

Twin Mirror, the upcoming psychological adventure game from Life Is Strange dev Dontnod, has been delayed until next year. The game was originally intended for release on consoles and PC sometime this year.

Dontnod says it's delaying the game in order to "optimize the gaming experience and capitalize on Twin Mirror's success potential". The studio has also signed a 12-month exclusivity deal for Twin Mirror with Epic. This means - yep, you guessed it - that Twin Mirror will be a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store. Dontnod says this partnership will be more financially advantageous for the studio going forward.

Originally, Twin Mirror was launched as a joint venture between Dontnod and Bandai Namco. Now, however, Dontnod says it's acquired the intellectual property rights for Twin Mirror. Bandai Namco will still publish the game on consoles, but this allows Dontnod to dictate who gets PC publishing rights (hence the Epic partnership). The studio has also partnered with Shibuya Productions, a company with "transmedia expertise". According to the above press release, Shibuya specializes in "video games with high content" as well as manga, documentaries, and fiction films. This could mean Dontnod's new game will become a multimedia project. Stay tuned for more on this.

Twin Mirror is an episodic adventure game which focuses on investigative journalist Sam Hayes. Sam returns to his hometown of Basswood, West Virginia, in order to bury an old friend. He wakes up one morning with blood on his shirt and no memory of the previous night's events. You'll need to dive into Sam's memories to discover the truth about Basswood and about Sam's place in the world. The game will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store in 2020. We don't have a specific release date just yet.
