French developer DontNod (who also made the striking but ultimately disappointing Remember Me) has officially released a limited edition for their episodic adventure game Life is Strange in North America, with a European version becoming available on the 22nd of this month. This limited edition includes the game's licensed soundtrack and the original score by singer-songwriter Syd Matters on a physical disc, as well as a beautiful art book based on the main character's sketchbook, as well as all 5 episodes of the game on disc.
In addition to all the goodies in the limited edition, DontNod has also updated all other versions of the game with subtitle support for Spanish, Mexican, Castilian, Brazilian-Portuguese and regular Portuguese, German and Italian languages. People who bought any of the game's different versions will also get access to an hour-long Director's Commentary video for no additional cost.
The release of the limited edition also comes with a new patch that adds the subtitle support to all versions of the game, with the option of changing the in-game language at any point during your playthrough. You can set the subtitle's size to 3 sizes (depending on how good your eyesight is): normal, large and (and this is true) hella large.
Life is Strange's first episode 'Chrysalis' was released in January of last year, with the final episode 'Polarized' finishing off the 5-part season in October. The game went on to win a multitude of awards, including an award for Ashley Burch's portrayal of Max's best friend Chloe Price.
The Limited Edition is available right now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One for $39.99. People who order the limited edition through the official Square-Enix webstore will automatically be entered into a sweepstake where they have a chance to win one of 5 copies of the game's soundtrack on vinyl.
Quick Take
I really, really liked this game and I'm contemplating whether I'm willing to shell out a decent amount of money for the special edition. That vinyl pressing is looking rather neat, though.
