Looks like the guys at Alawar Entertainment have a thing for stories set in war-torn countries. The published announced that their new title, named Displaced, just hit Steam Greenlight. This time, instead of managing an apartment complex for a dystopian government, players will be asked to lead a group of survivors away from the warzone. The game is expected to release during the second quarter of 2017.

From the trailer and the screenshots available from the Greenlight page, Displaced looks like an in-between This War of Mine and Oregon Trail. Players will have to form their party of survivors at the start of each game. Each available character has its own set of skills and perks, as well as detriments that have to be taken into account. Then they'll need to get out of the warzone by reaching the harbor, the airport or the land border.

Choice is apparently an important part of the game. On their way to survival, the party will encounter many events and survivors. Players will be able to decide if they want to approach other survivor groups peacefully, trade with them or maybe attack them to steal their belongings. Each possible choice will have consequences that will impact the party's chance to success as well as their possibility to get out alive.

Just like This War of Mine, the protagonists of Displaced are not heroes or fighters, but regular people that found themselves between a rock and a hard place and find themselves forced to adapt to the unfortunate circumstances. Tell about the war from the point of view of the survivors is always tricky on a narrative standpoint, even more in video games. It's to be seen if Alawar will be able to pull it off with Displaced.
