Dishonored 2

With a multitude of gameplay styles, Dishonored 2 is a game well-suited for numerous playthroughs. Though its predecessor could certainly claim the same honor, the choice between Emily and Corvo adds more depth. The core gameplay may have stayed largely the same since the first entry of the series yet Dishonored 2 somehow manages to feel fresh every time, despite expectations to the contrary.

Now, fans of Dishonored 2 will get the chance to experiment even further as a result of the game’s first free update. The update adds an interesting take on New Game Plus for both main characters. Players will get the chance to start a new game as either Emily or Corvo while gaining access to each other’s abilities as well as any Bonecharm Traits and Runes collected in previous playthroughs.

As Creative Director Harvey Smith said, you will be able to “play Emily Kaldwin with Possession or Devouring Swarm, or Corvo Attano with Domino”. New Game Plus will allow for some potentially crazy combinations which should be very entertaining to seasoned players. Since the mode will only be unlocked once players have actually completed a full run of the game at least once, balance issues should not pose too much of a problem.

Originally, Custom Difficulty Settings were going to be a part of the same update in a December release. However, it will now arrive in January in the second content update to Dishonored 2 along with Mission Select. Both features have been sorely missing from the base game so patient gamers will finally be rewarded. Though one could argue that all of these should have been a part of the game from the get-go, it is worth noting that both updates are completely free of charge.

The first update with New Game Plus will release today as beta on the PC and will officially land on Monday, December 19th for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
