If you've seen Star Wars: A New Hope, you'll remember the scene with the holographic Chess-like monster game played on the Millennium Falcon by Chewbacca and R2-D2, in which Han recited the famous words "Let the Wookie Win." That game, which is known as "Dejarik" in the Star Wars universe, is now being brought to life by its original creator to be played as a Mobile CCG, Hologrid: Monster Battle.

Hologrid: Monster Battle is a new game that fuses Collectable Card Gaming, Board Gaming, and Augmented Reality to create a new gaming experience, which is being crafted by CG Animation and Visual Effects specialist Tippet Studio (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, Starship Troopers) and HappyGiant (Founded by veterans of LucasArts). Hologrid: Monster Battle is up on Kickstarter today as a joint development between the two, with a goal of $100,000 to start, and stretch goals all the way up to $1,000,000.

The goal of the game, which will be available on both iOS and Android, is to defeat your opponents champion using their own team made up of a champion, 3 minions, and 2 spells. At the base goal, there are 8 units available for players to choose and in total 400 possible combinations for a team. Should the upper stretch goals be reached, the creators are looking to have 30 creatures to bring that total possible combination number up to over 100,000!

The game is easy to pick up and play; turn order is chosen at random and each turn players will receive 5 mana to use to complete Actions. Mana is used to summon a minion, move it, or attack, as well as using your spells and swapping out cards if you don't like the cards you were dealt at the end of your previous turn. Players will switch turns attacking, drawing, and spellcasting until their opponent's Champion is defeated.

With local multiplayer built in, you'll be able to play on a single tablet with someone else 1v1 or in a team setting, in quick 10 to 15 minute games. Should the $350,000 stretch goal be hit, the ability for Remote Play will be added, so that you can play against anyone over the internet!

A pledge of $30 ($25 for early birds) gets you a boxed copy of Hologrid: Monster Battle, a mobile/tablet stand, a physical game board, and a copy of the rules, as well as your name in the credits and digital wallpaper. If you want some more physical goodies, the $250 tier gets you a 3D Printed monster, and the $1500 tier will get you two 3D printed monsters and the ability to name one of them!

Hologrid: Monster Battle is planned to be a one-time price, meaning there will be no in-app purchases or paid features to the game. While "Creature Packs" may be introduced in the future, the developers only plan on doing so if players want them.
