The OP has partnered with Fox Consumer Products to bring to the table the first-ever officially licensed tabletop game based on the action/Christmas film Die Hard with Die Hard: The Nakatomi Heist Board Game.

Die Hard: The Nakatomi Heist Board Game is set to launch Spring 2019 as a one-versus-many style board game, with one player taking on the role of the ever-beleaguered undershirt hero John McClane, while the other players play as “thieves.” It’s still unclear whether that means those other players take roles as a general group of machine-gun-toting thugs, or if they’ll each have distinct roles like Hans Gruber or Karl Vreski. Regardless, the main goal of the McClane player is to save the hostages in Nakatomi Tower, while the main goal of the thieves is to stop him.

The developer promises the game will strike a chord with die-hard Die Hard fans, pulling in plenty of small details and nods to the original film. Here’s hoping we get to spend some time with Argyle and Sgt. Powell. At the very least, it’s safe to assume there will be plenty of opportunities to shimmy through air ducts and shout iconic one-liners.

No word yet on components and actual game mechanics, but judging solely from the box art that’s been released, it looks like we can expect some sleek, minimalist design and artwork (which beats blown out stills from the film any day). The game’s being developed by Pat Marino, who previously designed Gem Hens, Court of the Dead: Mourners Call, and smaller indie games. The OP and Fox have previously partnered on several of Fox’s other properties, including Family Guy and Futurama.

Asymmetrical games like this have to be carefully balanced to ensure a fun play experience no matter which role you choose, but when done right it can lead to  varied game experience with high replay value. And given the fact that this is the very first time a Die Hard tabletop game has ever been released, hopes are high that it captures the spirit of the film and delivers on the high-octane world of John and Hans.
