According to a Forbes post published by Erik Kain about an hour ago and swiftly removed soon after (but not before Reddit captured it), the Diablo III port for the Nintendo Switch has been confirmed for release in 2018. After its rocky PC launch in 2012 and a long process of continuous development for community support, the action-RPG also received console ports in 2013 and 2014 for both of the latest generations of PlayStation and Xbox. Now the final frontier is the latest Nintendo console.

The Switch version is dubbed the Eternal Collection, including both the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansions, as well as all other additional content, and it will sell for the hefty price of a new AAA release at $59.99. It will also feature special Nintendo exclusive in-game bonus content such as Legend of Zelda-inspired Legend of Ganondorf cosmetic armor set (pictured), a Tri-Force portrait frame, a Chicken pet, and Echoes of the Mask cosmetic wings.

It will allow players to revisit or explore the game for the first time in different ways, including docked and portable modes. Up to 4 players can play on a single Switch, or on 4 separate Switch units wirelessly and without an Internet connection. The Nintendo Switch Online service (to launch in September) will also allow players to team up online, with cloud saving support.

There was no official release date announced in the Forbes post. As noted by Nathan Grayson at Kotaku, this will be the first Blizzard game in a Nintendo platform in 15 years, which is certainly quite the event. For the past year or so there have been efforts to bring more exclusive and unique content to the Nintendo Switch releases of games developed in the West. In this year's E3, Ubisoft announced Starlink: Battle for Atlas with some exclusive Nintendo content, and brought industry legend Shigeru Miyamoto on stage, presenting him with a model of Star Fox’s ship.

Update 8/16: The Switch port has been officially confirmed by Nintendo of America's Twitter account:

According to NintendoLife, the release date should be around December 21.
