Back in December Funomena announced their new project called Wattam. Now they've revealed a lot more about the game including a little insight into the story and game-play. Funomena will be at E3 this month and more details about the game will likely be revealed in the wake of the big event.

Funomena is founded by Robin Hunicke of Journey fame and Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi. A teaser trailer for their new game Wattam showed a green cube with a bowler hat concealing a bomb with a lit fuse. That trailer release corresponded with Playstation Experience in Las Vegas last year. A new E3 trailer shows a whole lot more of the game.

Similar to the Katamari series Wattam looks like it exists in a whimsical and colorful world with some unique game-play mechanics. The creators explained on the Playstation Blog that the game-play revolves around amassing large groups of characters in various ways and then blowing them up with bombs.

This may sound violent but these are nice bombs that aren't meant to obliterate your enemies but instead propel your friends into outer space and back to their home. That little green cube is the mayor of the titular world of Wattam. After a terrible disaster that dispersed all his citizens across the universe he's determined to find them, bring them back home and restore Wattam to it's former state of colorful cuteness.

Wattam will have various worlds to explore including four that are themed after the traditional seasons. In each world there will be hidden and sleeping characters that players will have to find and figure out how to wake up. There will also be special "boss" characters that will make the game more challenging.

Including both single player and co-op play Wattam has the potential to be a good console game for the whole family. Oddball, quirky and cute Wattam will be released for the PS4 in 2016. Wattam is certainly an indie game to watch.

What do you think of the new trailer for Wattam?
