Diablo fans have wanted an MMORPG for a long time and now we're getting one... sort of. Blizzard Entertainment has partnered with NetEase to create Diablo Immortal, a massively multiplayer online action role-playing game (try saying that three times fast).

This newest entry into the demon-slaying franchise will be making its way to iOS and Android as an experience created especially for the platform. Let's kick things off with the cinematic trailer for Diablo Immortal which shows some pretty intense action:

Set in-between Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo IIIDiablo Immortal has players exploring the consequences of the sundering of the Worldstone after the climactic battle with Baal. Old enemies may have been vanquished, but new evils have risen and it's up to you and your friends to vanquish them.

Players will be based out of the city of Westmarch when it was still a center of commerce and trade; today, it lays practically deserted thanks to an assault from the forces of evil. Defenders were quickly overrun and most of the city's population was turned into an army of the dead.

As for who you'll be playing, this new mobile experience will feature six different character classes: Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Crusader, Demon Hunter, and Necromancer. You can see some of these mighty heroes in action in the gameplay trailer:

Diablo Immortal is designed for mobile devices from the ground up by NetEase in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment. Simple touch and gesture controls will guide you through the world of Sanctuary as you unleash your devastating abilities upon the hordes of terrifying monsters.

You won't be going it alone, either. This is going to be a multiplayer online experience with drop-in drop-out co-operative play. Unfortunately, that's most of the big details we know about the game right now.

You can pre-register for Diablo Immortal on Android via the Play Store right now. A similar option should be coming to iOS at some point in the near future. You can learn more about the game by heading on over to its official website.
