Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Secret

With the industry's trend of tying specific content to certain consoles, KOEI TECMO has come out with more details regarding the upcoming women-watcher disguised as a beach sport game Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, and it seems like breast physics will be exclusive to Sony's Playstation 4. Yes, you heard what I said.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3
Such visceral realism.

This feature, courtesy of the Soft Engine 2.0, allows the parts that may (and will) jiggle to jiggle with more fervor than ever before, with breasts reacting organically to contact with hard surfaces. The Vita version will have to make do with regular boob physics. Not sure I'll be able to get over that. Earlier this month the developer already announced that tan lines and the ability of some bikinis to have “malfunctions” will be coming to Sony's current-gen console only. The game will also have rock climbing and Beach Flags as playable activities, a first for the franchise.

Another new feature that will be shipped with the game is the Owner Mode, which lets players take control of the island playing host to the scantily-clad pixels. Players playing this mode will earn experience points which can be spent in the Owner Shop, where you can unlock new items and features. Being the owner means that you'll have to make the girls on the island happy. The more the happiness meter rises, the more scantily-clad the girls will be.  You can check out DualSHOCKERS for more info.

That's all well and good, but does it have a branching story?

The game found itself in the midst of a controversy when developer KOEI TECMO announced that they wouldn't be releasing the game outside of Asian markets, implying that the West's stance on the portrayal of women in videos games as the reason for the decision. This decision prompted the developer for dating sim HoniePop to offer 1 million dollars to KOEI TECMO for the rights to publish the game in the states. You can read KOEI TECMO's response here. The game can, however, be imported from Japan if you so desire.

Lastly, KOEI TECMO has also released a new trailer so you can see it in all its jiggly glory.

Quick Take

Personally, I find the whole franchise to be laughably campy and over the top. The last time I played an entry of this franchise was Dead Or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball and I found the entire experience to be extremely forgettable. I don't understand why people are getting so up in arms about this game not coming to Western territories. I'm actually quite surprised that it has a fanbase here since I never hear anyone talk about it. I'll just chalk it up to different strokes for different folks.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
