Daybreak Games has announced today that the free-to-play MMO superhero game is coming this summer to the Nintendo Switch. The last console port of the game was on Xbox One in 2016, as we reported. The game is also available on PC, and PlayStation 4, but now players will be able to play on-the-go and experience the DC Universe in both handheld mode and TV mode on the Nintendo Switch.

Creative Director of DC Universe Online SJ Mueller enthused about the new release, saying it’s been in their plans for a while.

Bringing such a massive online game to Nintendo Switch has been a dream come true. As soon as the Nintendo Switch released, the development team couldn’t help but wonder, what if…? Long story short, we are so excited for players to take their DC experience wherever they go.

In DC Universe Online players can channel their inner superhero or villain and create a unique customizable character with a variety of superpowers. You’ll experience thrilling and fast-paced battles alongside or against iconic DC characters such as Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Joker, and more. You’ll explore immersive, story-driven adventures in Gotham City, Metropolis, Titans Island, Themyscira, Atlantis, and other famous DC universe locations.

DC Universe Online was developed with the artistic vision of legendary comic book artist Jim Lee, and set within a world created by famous DC writers including Geoff Johns and Marv Wolfman. Players and fans are able to enter the DC Universe as an active force for good or evil. It’s a a massively multiplayer experience, delivering high-energy, physics-powered combat as players’ own abilities are combined with the characters’ abilities in a compelling and powerful action experience.
