Yesterday, January 8th, 2016, Berserk Games announced that their most recent DLC for Tabletop Simulator, an official version of TechRaptor favorite board game Darkest Night is now available. From the review, here's a brief overview of the game:
Darkest Night is a game designed by Jeremy Lennert and published by Victory Point Games in which 1 -4 players will take on the role of 4 of the game’s 9 heroes in an attempt to stop the evil Necromancer from covering the land in eternal darkness. In typical fantasy fashion, a party of 4 powerful heroes will set out from the Monastery, the last bastion of light against the Necromancer, in an attempt to gather Holy Relics and put an end to the Necromancer’s reign of terror. Atypically though, these same powerful heroes are made to feel insignificant and weak when brought face to face with the terrifying visage of the Necromancer.
Darkest Night does a superb job of both making the heroes feel heroic by giving them cool powers and abilities, and making them feel helpless and afraid by pitting them up against a foe that is far too strong for them to defeat at the outset of the game.
Darkest Night is the fifth game to have an official version released for Tabletop Simulator, joining Cosmic Encounter (priced at $9.99) as well as the TechRaptor approved Superfight (priced at $7.99), Mistfall (priced at $7.99), and Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia (priced at $7.99).
Quick Take
Darkest Night is one of my favorite games of all time. The game is tense and fun regardless of how many players are playing, providing an excellent solo experience as well as great cooperative fun. The base game is great, and each expansion just makes it better, so players that purchase the game have a lot of value to look forward to. Unofficial versions of the game have been available in the past, and the game translates very well to the computer screen and to online play. Players should be able to look forward to an even smoother experience now that an officially supported version is available. At only $6.99, Darkest Night is an amazing deal.
