Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is the 'next-gen' edition of Dark Souls 2, the updated version of the third title in the Souls series. Find out how much this update costs after the jump.
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will be available in two separate versions, with one available for everyone to purchase and the other available as an upgrade for those who previously bought Dark Souls 2.
For players who wish to upgrade to Scholar of the First Sin, it costs $19.99 for those who have already bought Dark Souls 2 and the DLC. If players have only bought the game itself it will cost $29.99. Those who are acquiring the game for the first time will have to pay full price, which is $49.99 for the DirectX 11 version or 39.99 for the DirectX 9 version of this title, which is available for free for players who already have the game and the DLC. Essentially, players are paying $20.00 to upgrade to the Direct X11 version of the title if they already have the game and the DLC.
For those of you wondering what is exclusive to Scholar of the First Sin, it looks as though there will be some interesting upgrades such as:
- New enemy placement, map shortcuts, and gameplay design.
- Graphics, sound, and performance upgrade.
- New weapons and armor for players to experiment with.
- New NPC invading player’s world.
- Max online players up from 4 to 6.
- It is a fresh new experience that even grizzled veterans will find surprising and challenging!
Intriguingly, the multiplayer is split from its predecessor, meaning that players who play on the older version of Dark Souls 2 will not be able to play with those who buy the DirectX 11 version of Scholar of the First Sin. This coincides with having no available option to transfer save data over to the DirectX 11 version, although those who continue playing with the DirectX 9 version will be able to do so.
